Step 1: Perform visual inspection of the ABS/TCS hydraulic unit and all associated wiring harnesses, checking for damaged wires, corroded connectors, moisture intrusion, or loose connections at the TCS solenoid connector. Pay special attention to areas exposed to road debris and wheel well spray.

Step 2: With ignition OFF, disconnect the TCS solenoid connector and measure resistance across the solenoid coil terminals using a digital multimeter. Expected reading should typically be 2-6 ohms (consult vehicle-specific data). Infinite resistance indicates an open coil; zero resistance indicates a short.

Step 3: Check for short to ground or short to power by measuring resistance between each solenoid terminal and chassis ground, and between each terminal and battery positive. Both readings should be infinite (open circuit). Any continuity indicates a short circuit in the solenoid or wiring.

Step 4: With connector still disconnected, backprobe the control module side of the harness and measure voltage supply with ignition ON. Verify proper voltage (typically battery voltage) on the power supply wire and check for continuity on the ground circuit to chassis ground (should be less than 1 ohm).

Step 5: If all previous tests pass, suspect internal control module failure. Command the TCS solenoid to activate using bi-directional controls in the scan tool while monitoring current draw with an amp clamp. Normal current draw should be 0.5-2 amps depending on vehicle. No current flow indicates control module driver failure.

Step 6: After repairs, clear codes, perform TCS system self-test or initialization procedure using scan tool functions, then road test the vehicle including deliberate traction loss events (in safe environment) to verify proper TCS operation and confirm code does not return.
