Step 1: Perform visual inspection of the ABS hydraulic control unit (HCU) and all wiring harnesses to the left front solenoid, checking for obvious damage, corrosion, chafing, or disconnected connectors. Inspect connector pins for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture intrusion.

Step 2: Using a digital multimeter, measure resistance across the left front ABS solenoid terminals (disconnect HCU connector first). Typical solenoid resistance should be 3-8 ohms depending on manufacturer; compare to service specifications. Infinite resistance indicates open circuit, zero ohms indicates short.

Step 3: Check for continuity and shorts to ground in the wiring harness between the ABS module connector and the solenoid. Measure resistance from each solenoid wire to ground (should be infinite/open circuit) and verify continuity wire-to-wire matches pin-out diagrams.

Step 4: If wiring and solenoid resistance are within specifications, perform ABS module output test using advanced scan tool functions to command the solenoid on/off while monitoring voltage at the solenoid connector. Should see battery voltage when commanded on, 0V when off.

Step 5: If solenoid tests fail or resistance is out of specification, replacement of the hydraulic control unit or solenoid valve is required. If all electrical tests pass but code persists, replace ABS control module.

Step 6: After repairs, clear codes, perform test drive with multiple ABS activation events (safe controlled stops on low-traction surface), and verify code does not return and ABS functions properly on all wheels.
